SCAM ALERT!
We have been made aware of fraudulent letters being mailed that appear to come from the IRS. These letters are part of a phishing attack. The goal is to trick recipients into scanning QR code and
entering sensitive information such as bank routing number and account numbers.
Please be aware:
- The IRS does not request banking information via QR codes
- Do not scan QR codes from unexpected or suspicious letters
- Do not provide account or personal information in response to unsolicited requests
If you receive one of these letters:
- Do not respond
- Do not scan the QR code
- Report the incident to the bank immediately
