Current Career Opportunities:

First Federal Savings of Lorain, a community-based savings and loan, has a Loan Originator position available. The successful candidate must be energetic and highly motivated with proven sales experience. This results-driven individual will originate residential mortgage loans, home equity lines of credit, construction and consumer loans with emphasis on developing and maintaining business relationships with all industry related entities.

This is a full time position and must be willing to accommodate evening and weekend appointments as needed.

Qualifications:

  • One or more years of mortgage loan origination experience.
  • NMLS registration under the S.A.F.E. Act of 2008, or ability to obtain.
  • Knowledge of mortgage procedures, documentation, and processes.
  • Strong desire to excel in a competitive environment.
  • Proven networking skills to generate new sales leads and form relationships.
  • Strong computer skills and experience utilizing current technology.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize, manage and perform multiple tasks.
  • Ability to communicate orally and visually and be able to hear.
  • Excellent and effective verbal and written presentation and communication skills.
  • Ability to carry lap top computer (20lbs).

The Primary Responsibility of this Position:

Analyze applicant’s financial status, credit and property evaluation to determine feasibility of granting mortgage loan requests, Visa and consumer loans.

 Other Duties and Responsibilities Include:

  • Examine overall loan documentation to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Review application packages to ensure loan meets company standards for sales to the secondary market.
  • Provide underwriting decisions in a timely manner.
  • Confer with lending staff to aid in resolving loan application problems.
  • Respond to underwriting questions from lending staff.
  • Ensure that loan applications move efficiently. 
  • Have a thorough understanding of Fannie Mae procedures and practices.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all loan application information.
  • Keep abreast of regulatory changes that affect the underwriting process.
  • Assist Management with audit and examination responses.
  • Complete all assigned compliance training in a timely manner.
  • Participate in ongoing training programs as required.
  • Assist with the preparation of lending reports.
  • Assist in critiquing of loan policies during the annual review process.
  • Attend and participate in loan committee meetings.
  • Review appraisal reports.

 Job Requirements:        

  • Minimum of three (3) years of underwriting experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of accounting principles and financial statement analysis preferred.
  • Knowledge of credit analysis and loan underwriting preferred.
  • Understanding of loan documentation criteria; financial institution services, products, policies and procedures.
  • Good analytical, organizational and communication skills.
  • Computer skills including word processing and spreadsheets. 
  • Ability to communicate orally and visually and be able to hear.
  • Ability to lift up to ten (10) pounds.

 Work Schedule:
Monday through Friday.   Must be willing to adjust work hours based on loan volume, including working overtime as needed.
